We believe in God, the Eternal Spirit, who is made
known to us in Jesus our brother, and to whose deeds
we testify: |
The
Trinity
Three arcs are interwoven,
joining to form three points, the triquetra; Creator, Christ and Spirit |
| God calls the worlds
into being, creates human kind in the Divine image, and
sets before us the ways of life and death.
|
|
Creation
Natural shadows of the day and night are contrasted
with the dark and light in human potential. The human form
demonstrates unnatural shading, reflecting the gift of choice
between good and evil. |
| God seeks in holy
love to save all people from aimlessness and sin.
|
|
Good Shepherd
Like a shepherd protects the flock, Christ cares
for all humankind. |
God judges all humanity and all nations by that
will of righteousness declared through prophets and apostles.
|
|
Justice
Life as a Christian is symbolized by the scale of
God's justice, the crystal carpenter's plumb with which to
measure living and the olive branch offering forgiveness |
| In Jesus
Christ, the man of Nazareth, our crucified and risen
Lord, God has come to us and shared our common lot, conquering
sin and death and reconciling the whole creation to its
creator.
| |
Resurrection
The trumpets herald the resurrection. As the butterfly
changes its form in its life cycle and becomes a symbol of
eternal life, so too, the lily springs forth from the sleeping
bulb in an elegant form. |
| God bestows upon us
the Holy Spirit, creating and renewing the church of
Jesus Christ, binding in covenant faithful people of
all ages, tongues and races.
|
|
Holy Spirit
The United Church of Christ symbolized by the cross,
orb and crown is a community of Christians into which the
Holy Spirit descends with tongues of fire and the dove of
peace. |
God calls us into
the church to accept the cost and joy of discipleship,
to be servants in the service of the whole human family,
to proclaim the gospel to all the world and resist the
powers of evil, to share in Christ's baptism and eat
at his table, to join him in his passion and victory.
|
|
Baptism and Communion
The call into the Church to accept the cost and
joy of discipleship is proclaimed through the sacraments.
The pitcher carrying the water of baptism, and the bread
and cup nourishing body and spirit through communion,
proclaim oneness with the Christian Community. |
| God promises to all
who trust in the gospel forgiveness of sins and fullness
of grace, courage in the struggle for justice and peace,
the presence of the Holy Spirit in trial and rejoicing, |
|
Harmony
The complete circle is stronger than any single
part. And so the races of humankind, distinct and individual,
are yet held one to another in greater strength. |
And eternal life in that kingdom which has no end.
Blessing and honor, glory and power be unto God.
Amen.
|
|
Eternal Life
Alpha and Omega
Christ is risen
The beginning and the end.
Amen |
